It’s actually just “The Sahara”, in English, and in Arabic it’s (aṣ-Ṣaḥrāʾ al-Kubrā) which means “The Great Desert” - it’s not called The Sahara Desert.
Put “red” into Google Translate and the word Soviet comes out as one of the alternate Russian translations. The Bolsheviks picked “Sovetskij Soyuz" for (one) name of their country in reference to the Red Army. That one was not imperialist ignorance.
