Malapropism
I'm reading some reviews of hotels in London and someone mentions "seasonal effective disorder", which sounds to me like the exact opposite of the condition where you get depressed from lack of sunlight.

Across the pond
I booked my flights this morning! In May I am flying to London (laying over in Chicago) and then on to Rome, and I am also going to Florence and Naples while I am in Italy. I am spending 2 nights each in Florence and Naples, 3 nights in London and 8 in Rome. I may be going to Florence just to see David, and Naples just to have pizza and see the Mediterranean. Of course, I will do more than that in each city, but that's why I am going.

You can't get There from Here
There are several places in America where, if using public roads, you must go through Canada to access the rest of America. There are also a few places in Canada where you must go through the US to access the rest of Canada. Ask Metafilter explains.
- Northwest Angle, Minnesota
- Alburgh, Vermont
- Point Roberts, Washington
- Estcourt, Maine - where there are private roads into Maine leading through the woods, buildings straddling the border and only four houses completely in the US
- Part of the St Regis Mohawk Reservation is in Quebec, but is only connected by road to the rest of the reservation in New York, not to anywhere within Quebec
- Campobello Island is Canadian, but is only connected by bridge to the eastern most point of the US: Lubec, Maine.
