By the way, I haven’t posted about them yet, but Better Things and One Mississippi were great!
There are six episodes out of One Mississippi (on Amazon), and it’s funny but also really heart-wrenching (unsurprisingly so if you know anything about Tig Notaro’s life), and Casey Wilson plays her girlfriend which is I think enough to sell someone on the show. It’s pretty much guaranteed to make you cry, though. Funnily enough, it’s produced by Louis C.K. just like Better Things (although he’s way more involved w/ Better Things).
Better Things has one episode out so far, and Pamela Adlon is just so fucking badass, who ISN’T in love with her?? Also the girls she cast as her daughters are rad: one of them, Frankie, is non-binary and it was important to Adlon that that was the case, and the youngest is Darryl’s daughter in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend! If you like Louie, you’re prob already watching, but if you’re not a huge Louie fan, I’d still give it a shot because it is very female-centered and not quite as uh, Louie-ish (for better or worse). It’s on FX on Thursdays!
I agree, Better Things was amazing. I felt like I was seeing groundbreaking tv, even though it seems to be a typical family sitcom on the surface.
